Ainscough Crane Hire Ltd was formed in 1976 by Gerald Ainscough and his family and since then had been run by his sons Martin, James & Brendan, through constant acquisition the company became the UK's largest crane hirer.

In 2007 the company was bought by the existing management team ensuring the business could maintain it's market leading position.
