Health & Safety

Ainscough treats health and safety as paramount, and has a continuing commitment to raise standards within the industry. Stringent equipment examinations are undertaken by external assessors, and regular maintenance and inspection checks are carried out by the in-house Service department.

All operatives are trained to the highest standard in accordance with BS7121 (Safe Use of Cranes), to ensure maximum competence.

Environment

Ainscough Crane Hire Limited is the first crane hire company in the UK to be awarded ISO14001 by the Environmental Auditors.

The Company is aware of the importance of preserving our environment. When engaged in chemical, petro-chemical, or pharmaceutical contracts, systems of work, service reliability and operator standards are critical for safe and efficient working.

Ainscough insists that all employees and equipment complies with the Company's stringent environmental policy.

Operational Safety

Environmental health and safety, as well as training, is given priority at Ainscough Crane Hire. The SHE Training Director holds an MA (Hons) in European Health and Safety Law/ Environmental Law, whilst all managers have undertaken legal awareness training through a high court judge. In addition, Ainscough depot managers are required to undertake thorough audits of their depots on a monthly basis. Regular audits are also carried out by our ISO auditors at all depot locations, and Ainscough have also passed the stringent British Safety Council five 'star audit'. Safety Walkabout cards and the CARE (Continuous Assessment of Risk and Elimination) handbooks are used on a daily basis to ensure that everyone is aware of the risks inherent in their workplace and the best ways of dealing with these effectively.

Ainscough Crane Hire has achieved “Investor In People” (IIP) status throughout the company. Achieving IIP demonstrates the total level of commitment Ainscough has to its staff; commitment that is further demonstrated by the detailed Training and Development Plan produced for all employees, giving each employee every opportunity to achieve his or her full potential.

On a day to day basis Ainscough, as well as all other companies with more than five employees, have to work to:
