Renewable energy company, Senvion Wind Energy, has recognised the commitment to site safety Ainscough are delivering at its Penmanshiel Wind Farm development in the Scottish borders.

Senvion has been appointed by renewable developer RES to build a 14-turbine array close to the North Sea coast approximately 40 miles east of Edinburgh.

Ainscough crane operative, Denis Lockwood, who has taken a lead on the delivery of day-to-day site safety, has been recognised by Senvion for his professionalism and commitment. Denis was appointed as the Site Safety Champion after ensuring the on-site Ainscough team were fully appraised of their safety responsibilities through regular briefings.

His efforts were recognised by the customer and Denis was awarded with a £100 gift voucher and a framed letter of recognition from Senvion’s Managing Director – Raymond Gilfedder.

Senvion’s site manager, Dale Bladon said: “What really struck us about Denis’ approach was that he was undertaking this activity for the right reasons. It wasn’t box ticking to him or covering himself, he takes this action to ensure the safety of himself and his colleagues.

“It’s heartening to know that we have contractors like this on our sites and we were only too happy to acknowledge his professionalism and dedication to the role.”

Denis added: “The safety of ourselves and our colleagues is of principal concern to everything we do and we cannot and will not compromise on its imposition.

“That we are an experienced and professional team undoubtedly helps in ensuring health and safety is at the forefront of everybody’s thoughts. We are proud to be recognised but we don’t ever take safety for granted.”
