Ainscough’s New Mobile Tower Crane

Market leading national lifting solutions company, Ainscough Crane Hire, has added a new Spierings mobile tower crane to its nationwide fleet.

The six axle, twin-engine, 16 metre long vehicle has a 60 metre radius and a maximum lifting mass of 10,000 kilos.

Ainscough Crane Hire took delivery in mid-February and embarked upon a commissioning process with both Spierings’ and in-house engineering staff along with a three-day operational training period to ensure the vehicle was fit for both the UK roads and to represent the Ainscough brand.

Dutch company Spierings has been designing and manufacturing mobile tower cranes since 1987 and is now recognised as a market leading supplier of mobile tower cranes. It boasts around 800 mobile tower cranes on Europe’s roads manufactured in the Dutch city of Oss.

Andrew Winter, general manager of Ainscough Crane Hire’s Heavy Cranes Division, said: “Spierings’ mobile tower cranes are held in high regard and their development over the past few years has led us to add this new crane to our existing fleet of Leibherr mobile tower cranes.

“It is a well specified machine which is suited to a number of applications. Principally, it will be used on construction projects and particularly on jobs where access is restricted and speed is important.

“It is fair to say that we are very pleased with its performance so far in tests and we look forward to putting it into active service for customers.”

Benefits of the new Spierings crane include lower emissions, remote operation by a single person and can be set up in 11 minutes.

Its design is of particular use to city centre locations where access is difficult and restricted site footprints mean other options, such as traditional tower cranes, are not viable.

The crane is expected to be used principally in the installation of roofing, air handling units, solar panels, lift mechanisms and modular roofing.
