Media City is a £500 million project to create a dedicated broadcasting hub for the North West of England. Based in Salford Quays it will house the BBC’s new Manchester Offices, as well as several BBC departments which are moving here from London in 2011.
The main contractor for this massive construction project is Bovis Lend Lease and we have worked for a number of different subcontractors at this site. On this particular job our client was NG Bailey, who awarded Ainscough Crane Hire with the full crane contract in September 2008.
In January 2009, one of the biggest lifts on site was carried out by our dedicated team. Over 23 days a series of chillers weighing 10.7 tonnes each were lifted onto the roof level of a building using our Liebherr LTM 1500 cranes. With a radius of 40m, the crane was perfect for this high level of work.
