Ainscough scoops landmark double award win at ESTA Awards of Excellence

Ainscough Crane Hire has confirmed its position at the forefront of the heavy lifting industry with a prestigious double win at The ESTA Awards of Excellence, the major annual event for the abnormal transport, crane rental and heavy lifting industry – widely acknowledged as the Oscars ceremony of the heavy lift and transport sector.

Earlier in the year the European Association of Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes’ jury of experts drew up its shortlist of potential winners from around 70 entries.

The successful entries in ten categories were announced at the annual ESTA Users’ Night and Awards gala dinner and presentation event at the Hilton Charles De Gaulle Airport hotel to the north of Paris on 25 April.

Representatives from Ainscough at the ceremony included Heavy Cranes Operations Director, Andrew Spink, and Technical Contracts Manager, David Baxter.

Ainscough took home prizes in two of the ten categories:

· Cranes more than 120 tonnes: Ainscough was celebrated for the exchange of a kiln installation during the largest shutdown in the history of the CEMEX Rugby Cement Plant. Ainscough carried out several complex lifting operations down to the centimetre, completing the work over a six-day period of 24-hour shifts.

· Cranes, lattice boom: Ainscough was recognised for its work on Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield Stadium renovation. For its work increasing the capacity of the ground’s Main Stand, Ainscough removed an existing stand structure using a tandem lift operation by two crawler cranes. Due to height restrictions and the offset centre of gravity of the roof sections, lifting points were not an option so an innovative underslung lifting beam solution was used.t

Andrew Spink, Heavy Cranes Operations Director, said: “We’re thrilled to be honoured by our peers with these two ESTA awards. Being the only company on the night to take home two awards speaks volumes about the exceptional team we have here at Ainscough and our commitment to delivering an unrivalled service to our clients. I’d like to thank everyone who helped deliver these projects – from our own team to our subcontractors and our excellent clients.

“Our work at Anfield was an unprecedented project in the heavy lifting world, in terms of planning, timing and execution and demonstrates the strength of teamwork and technical ability at Ainscough. Similarly, our work at the CEMEX Rugby Cement Plant is a perfect illustration of our expertise in industrial shutdowns, with our team able to manage lifts of major complexity in a tight timeframe without ever compromising on safety.”

Ainscough’s work at Anfield was previously honoured with the Lifting Operations Award at this year’s Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) awards.
