AINSCOUGH TAKES APARTMENT BLOCKS TO NEW HEIGHTS

crane lifting

Ainscough Crane Hire’s Manchester depot has completed work on two stylish new apartment blocks located next to Spinningfields in Manchester.

The full contract lift at Slate Yard on Stanley Street located behind a Premier Inn, saw the team use a 150-tonne LTM1150-6.1 crane and a 95-tonne model to lift all parts of the 65 balconies onto the buildings for client Bowmer & Kirkland, which is the main contractor on the project.

The balconies were part of the building’s one, two and three bedroom apartments for rent and will give the apartment’s residents great views over Manchester city centre and beyond. They are located in New Bailey, a new riverside development featuring commercial space, apartments and hotels.

Over a total of six weeks, the single, triple and quadruple balconies were installed onto the two 10 storey and 15 storey apartment blocks. It took a total of 180 lifts to ensure that all of the components of the 65 balconies were in place correctly.

Gary Rathburn, Manchester depot manager, said: “This was a lift that took place in a busy city centre location next to a canal, office buildings and a hotel so extra care had to be taken when on site to ensure all health and safety procedures were adhered to.

“We worked closely with the client to complete the lift safely and on time and we’re very happy with the end result.”

Paul Adesile, The Slate Yard Site Manager, said: “Ainscough worked with us to ensure that the balcony installation ran within our time scale and to the highest health and safety standards.”

The apartments are due to open in the summer of 2018.
