SAFETY MESSAGE CARVED IN STONE AT HINKLEY POINT C

Ainscough Crane Hire’s Bristol Depot has positioned a giant stone at the entrance to EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C (HPC) development which reminds visitors of their safety responsibilities.

As part of the company’s ongoing work at the major infrastructure site, the boulder was positioned at the main entrance and will subsequently be re-located as the project develops and a new entrance at North Plaza opens later in 2018.

Matt Jarman, depot Manager at Ainscough said: “The lift was not complicated, but it was perhaps one of the most important jobs to be involved with as safety underscores every activity on site at Hinkley Point C.

“The safety message is literally carved in stone and we can’t think of a more fitting way to remind people of their responsibilities.”

Nigel Cann, programme and construction delivery director at HPC said: “Nuclear safety is our overriding priority and is one of the key messages we want to resonate with anyone who enters and of EDF Energy’s nuclear licenced sites, Hinkley Point C is no exception.”

Along with other power stations operated by EDF Energy in the UK, the stone at Hinkley Point C will be in position for the lifetime of the power station to reinforce the on-site safety culture.
