This practical based course enables workers to perform basic first aid and lifesaving procedures within a wind turbine environment.

This syllabus delivers the First Aid module of the Global Wind organisation ‘Basic Safety Training’ standard.

A full refresher course must be undertaken within 2 years. The use of customer sites will be subject to an assessment and the audit requirements of GWO. Delegates must be medically fit to perform the practical elements of this course and must sign a medical disclaimer to that effect.

Course Content
- Understanding of global and UK legislation and agreed practices for workplace first aid provision, training and reporting
- Risks and hazards in the workplace
- Adult Basic Life Support and primary surveys (ABC)
- Use of automated external defibrillators
- Recognition and treatment of typical workplace injuries and medical conditions within a WTG environment
- Bleeding, cardiac conditions and shock
- Trauma and fractures
- Airway obstruction
- Psychological first aid
- Use of basic first aid equipment (dressings etc.)
