AINSCOUGH BRANCH OUT TO REPAIR STORM CIARA DAMAGE

The UK has been rocked over the few weeks by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis, resulting in major disruption throughout the country.

As Storm Ciara worked its way through the Midlands, Ainscough Crane Hire’s Nottingham depot received a phone call from the Coventry head office of idverde, Europe’s largest provider of grounds maintenance services and landscape construction projects.

Nottingham depot manager James Needham was briefed on the job, which was to remove a tree that had been blown onto a residential property in the village of Rothley, Leicestershire.

“This was a relatively simple job for us to complete, but only because of the capability of our team,” says James. “Our contract lift manager Damian Goodman went to the property and had a look at the work that needed undertaking. Our team then returned with a 150t crane that was driven by James Ingham, with the lift supervised by Peter Crogan and Paul Isherwood on slinging.

“Trees can be tricky to work with because until you lift them up you never quite know how much they’re going to weigh. In this instance, we were able to easily take hold of the tree while the branches were cut off by one of idverde’s specialist tree teams and a cherry picker.
“Work began at about 8am and we’d finished by 11.45, and together with idverde, we were able to complete the work before any lasting damage had been done to the property. We hope the weather we’re having calms down soon, but if not we’re ready to use our skills to assist in any way we can with the damage from the storms.”
