AINSCOUGH DECKS OUT MEDIACITY SITE

Ainscough’s Manchester depot team has successfully completed a lift at the site of a new hotel development at MediaCity, in the city of Salford.

The team used a Liebherr LTM 1055-1 to lift construction materials including decking boards and concrete blocks onto the roof of White Tower, which were to be used in the construction of a unique outdoor ‘chill out’ area on the roof of the hotel operated by Holiday Inn.

The 15-storey hotel stands 68-metres high and is one of the tallest buildings at Salford Quays and its roof space commands stunning views across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and the Peak District.

The lift was completed for Preferred Spaces Ltd, which deliver turn-key fit-out solutions to customers across a wide range of sectors.

The work forms part of the ever expanding 200-acre MediaCity site, which includes the likes of the BBC, ITV, Ericsson and Kellogg’s and sits on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford and Trafford.

Gary Rathburn, head of the Manchester depot commented: “Precise planning and co-operation is always what makes lifts successful, and it was testament to the team that we were able to complete the lift so safely and efficiently.

“It’s great to be operating on a site where so much expansion has and will continue to take place, and for Ainscough to play a part in a development of this scale is very rewarding.”
