Ainscough proud to support DIY SOS in life-changing home transformation

Ainscough was recently honoured to support the BBC’s much-loved programme, DIY SOS, in a remarkable project to transform the home of a young disabled adult in Freckleton, Lancashire.

The project, led by presenter Nick Knowles, designer Gaby Blackman and the dedicated DIY SOS production team at Southshore, brought together a huge number of volunteers, tradespeople, and local businesses from across the North West. Together, they worked tirelessly to renovate a family home to meet the complex needs of Daniel, a young man returning home after a long stay in hospital.

As part of its contribution, Ainscough Crane Hire provided its brand-new FASSI UK Ltd F820 HIAB for vital transport work, as well as its Liebherr 50t Hybrid City Crane, which was used extensively throughout the build to support the safe installation of roof trusses.

Ainscough’s involvement began with the collection and delivery of essential equipment from London to the Freckleton site where the project was taking place. Throughout the build, its team worked closely with site managers, tradespeople, and volunteers to ensure heavy lifting and transport needs were met smoothly and efficiently.

Joe Embery, Transport Operations Planner for Ainscough said: “It has been an absolute privilege to play a part in this incredible transformation. The DIY SOS team, alongside the many selfless tradespeople and volunteers, created something truly special for Daniel and his family. We’re proud that our cranes and transport services could help bring the vision to life and contribute to such a meaningful cause.”

The episode will air on BBC One later this year, showcasing the extraordinary teamwork, generosity, and compassion that went into building a safe, accessible, and welcoming home for Daniel.
