Ainscough Crane Hire has lifted nine prestige yachts out of the River Thames for events specialist GES. The lifts allowed for the positing of the yachts inside the ExCeL London convention centre for the 2018 London Boat Show.

The nine vessels, which were too large for road transportation, were lifted out of the water at the Royal Docks by a DemagAC350- 6 mobile crane following their journey along the River Thames from various locations including Plymouth, Poole and across the English Channel from France.

They were then transported onto the ExCeL’s show floor on a specially-designed trailer and displayed within the exhibition, which ran from 10th – 14th January.

Trevor Davies, Area Sales Manager said: “While these craft are designed to withstand the open oceans, they are an incredibly valuable cargo and great care and understanding was needed to take them from their natural habitat and into the exhibition hall.

“The quayside was the perfect location to deliver the lifts and we are very pleased that our planning enabled the lifts to be completed without a hitch.”

Yachts of this size require a specialist approach for transportation as they simply won’t fit under road bridges. With access to a large fleet of specialist cranes, we were able to provide the right equipment for the job.”

The London Boat Show is an annual event organised by the British Marine Federation and attracts up to 90,000 visitors and 350 exhibitors.
