Ainscough Crane Hire’s Team at Fawley Depot, which is based on site at ExxonMobil Fawley Refinery close to Southampton in Hampshire, have had their approach to onsite safety recognised by the site.
Attending the Annual Contractor Safety Conference at the complex, the conference closed with the presentation of the Annual Contractor ‘Tiger Awards’ to celebrate outstanding contractor performance in 2017.
Among the recipients of the awards was depot manager Lee Cakebread, whose commitment to embracing the safety culture onsite was recognised with an individual leadership award.
Upon receiving the award, Lee said: “We are a close team here at Fawley and the culture of safety is something we have put front and centre of our thinking. Working in a petro-chemical environment, safety assumes an even higher level of importance and it is our first and last thought on each and every lift we deliver here.
“It’s gratifying to be recognised with the award but it is more important to me that we maintain our safety standards as we move forward.”
The Fawley refinery is the largest oil refinery in the United Kingdom, and one of the most complex refineries in Europe. With a capacity of 270,000 barrels a day, Fawley provides 20 percent of UK refinery capacity. An estimated 2,300 people are employed at the site.
