My Ainscough Story – Emma Fairhurst, Area Sales Manager

Since joining Ainscough just two years ago Emma has risen through the ranks and is now an Area Sales Manager. We caught up with her to find out a bit more about how her journey got started and what’s next.

I joined Ainscough nearly two years ago. It was my first venture into the construction industry, but I brought with me over a decade of experience in sales. I had spent around ten years in the sales department at Beaverbrooks Jewellers before moving into advertising for a magazine company. It was during my time there that I met Kitty Pickersgill, who later recommended me for a role at Ainscough.

My journey here has been a real testament to Ainscough’s commitment to nurturing talent. I have been lucky enough to be promoted twice since joining, which highlights the supportive and growth-oriented culture that drew me here in the first place.

I started in the telemarketing department, working closely with Simon and Naomi from the customer support team. They were exceptional leaders who also encouraged me to go for new opportunities as they arose. After just a year, when a new position was created for Internal Sales Executive, I eagerly applied and was thrilled to be selected.
Just a few months into my new role, I saw an opening for Area Sales Manager. I didn’t think I would get it given the relatively short time in my new role, but I decided to give it a go and to my surprise and delight, I was again successful. I stepped into my new role in March 2024. It just shows Ainscough really does encourage promoting from within, which is fantastic.

As an Area Sales Manager, my days are always busy and very varied. My primary focus is on field sales, which involves meeting with site managers, buyers, and other key stakeholders. I share details on Ainscough’s services, from our carbon-neutral initiatives to our outstanding health and safety standards. For me, it’s not just about selling; it’s about building relationships and informing businesses about what Ainscough offers to improve their operations.

In addition to sales, my role also sees me spending a significant amount of time on customer support. Ensuring that clients are happy is still a vital part of my job.

Outside of my busy professional life, I am mum to a very energetic four-year-old daughter, so my weekends are generally filled with gymnastics, play dates, park visits, and watching Disney films!

My journey at Ainscough highlights our supportive environment and dedication to employee growth. It demonstrates the opportunities available within the company.
