Ainscough Crane Hire Complete Work At Heathrow Airport

Ainscough Crane Hire has completed the assembly of a tarmac batching plant at Heathrow Airport for surfacing specialist Parker Plant.

Using two of its mobile cranes, Ainscough’s operators carefully positioned the modular plant’s mixing drums using a Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1, 130 tonne crane for the lift and a second LTM 1060-3.1, 60 tonne crane to ‘tail’ load: tethering the lower end of the drum to prevent movement as it is raised to an upright position.

To complete the lift, additional tackle and shackles were required over and above the standard equipment carried by on board the cranes. The team recognised this in advance and their alertness meant there were no delays to the lift.

Ainscough’s Hayes Depot Manager, Colin Day said: “Having airside accreditation in place beforehand meant we were able to progress this lift with minimum delay. We completed two lifts on the same day which gave other on-site contractors the window to assemble the plant around the two huge drums.

“It was great to get positive feedback from the Parker Plant at the end of the job, it was another good performance by our team.”

The team received a good feedback from Parker Plant’s Tony Butler, their installation and service director. He described the Ainscough approach as being ‘very helpful and professional in handling the obstacles on the project.’ Furthermore, he singled out the crane operators, Chris Dupree and Tony Day, for praise adding: ‘the drivers are polite and knowledgeable and I’m happy to give you 9/10 overall.’
